I apologize for the brief lapse in Rebel News, but I have been a bit “under the weather.”  We are all now  poised for an exciting and busy rush to the finish line.  As of this writing only 26 days remain in the 2012-2013 school year.  We are all encouraged to be certain that all financial obligations to the school have been met, start rounding up library books, athletic uniforms, etc.  It is also time to remind all students to clear up any missed assignments or tests.  Time will really fly from now to May 24.

We understand that the only constant in life is change.  While some change in good, some is NOT.  Such is the case with a recent resignation from the CA staff.  After thirty-five (35) years at our school, Coach Don McGinty has tendered his resignation. During his tenure at CA Coach McGinty has taught just about every science class we teach, multiple levels of PE, Drivers Education, and has coached every sport at one time or another.  In addition, he has served as interim Headmaster on more than one occasion.  As one Board member stated, “Coach McGinty has been the glue that has held us together on many occasions.”  We will be hard pressed to replace his current roles as coach, athletic director, and assistant headmaster.  We certainly wish Coach the very best in his new endeavor.

Congratulations are extended to our recent District Art Show winners.  Those who placed in various categories and age groups are:

Spring sports are beginning to draw to a close.  The JV softball team closed out their season Tuesday at Coosa Valley.  While the record did not end as desired, our young ladies gained a year of experience and growth in softball fundamentals which will serve them well as they advance toward the varsity level of play.  Congratulations to the following team members:  Bre’Anna, Kala, Anslee, Hannah, Lindsey, Kristina, Jessica, Tori, Kelsey, McKenzie, and Tate.  Bat girls were Donna and Audra.  The JV team was coached by Coach Kayla Black.
