Hello, Everyone!
First grade has had a busy month during August. We have had a GREAT start to the year. We have completed reading our first four reading stories. We have learned a lot about tame and wild animals. We are learning about jobs that take care of animals. We learned about Paul Bunyan and his blue ox Babe. Did you know that he might have been a real person but not quite as big as in the story? That’s why it’s called a tall tale. We watched a video about him (It was a fantasy). Everyone did well on the Star test. Our top AR reader in August and for the summer was Eben. He loves to read. Several other students were very close. I love that they are all excited about reading. Remember our goal is six (6) books each month.
We are looking forward to September. In reading and social studies we will be learning about families and communities. Look for a family tree project in a few weeks. We are excited to have our Grandparents visiting with us soon. We will also learn about Johnny Appleseed. Also, we are planning a trip to the Springer Opera house to see a play and to the pumpkin patch in October. That’s all the news for now. Thank you for allowing me to be your child’s teacher. I have a fantastic group of scholars, who truly enjoy learning. They keep me on my toes! We have had to Google several questions to find the answers. Like, “What kind of monkey is the orange monkey?” I love their curiosity and willingness to try anything. I am looking forward to a wonderful time of learning for the rest of this year. Thanks for all you do to make sure your student is successful.
