Hello Everyone;
First grade has had a busy month during October. We are half way through our Second reading unit. We learned a lot about communities. We learned about communities at school, in our town, communities from the past, and in nature. We had a visit from Mayor Moody. He told us how a city government works. We learned that LaFayette is getting a park, and it will have a splash pad for kids to play in during the summer. We also had a visit from the firemen. We were able to inspect their truck and the ambulance. They taught us about fire safety. Our top AR reader in October was William. He read 26 books this month. He says he really enjoys reading books about Ninjas. Several other students were very close. Congratulations to Sydney and Ty H. for their entries in the Farm/ City Poster Contest.We can’t wait for Thursday, when we visit the pumpkin patch and enjoy the black light pep rally. After the pep rally, we are out for fall break.
We are looking forward to November. We want to help Tom Turkey make it past Thanksgiving. We will also present a Veterans Day program on November 11th. Soon we will have a week off for Thanksgiving, and shortly after that is Christmas. This year has really flown by! Thanks for all you do to make sure your student is successful. They truly are a blessing to teach.
