Spanish 1 is officially underway after a one-year hiatus. I am beyond happy to be back at Chambers Academy, and I am looking forward to a wonderful school year as both teacher and assistant headmaster. The highlight of my day is my Spanish 1 classes, two of which are being offered this year. Though I teach and have taught many different classes, my area of expertise and where I have the most training is in World Languages. We are only at the beginning of language creation, and already the students are able to hold a basic conversation. They should be able to say hello, ask how you are doing, ask for your name and where you are from, as well as respond to those questions. They can also spell words using the Spanish alphabet. They just took their first test, and I am very pleased with the progress they are making in my class. From here, we will begin two units on descriptions, where students will learn to form sentences to describe a person’s physical appearance, their hair and eye color, body parts, miscellaneous clothing, as well as talk about their schedules, classrooms, classmates, and teachers.
