We are constantly growing in our language abilities. We have put descriptions behind us, and have moved on to more language development. We have begun learning verbs, which is what we will focus on, grammatically speaking, for the rest of the school year. You need to know that this transition to verbs is somewhat of a turning point in the curriculum, as the lessons will be a little more challenging for some of the students, and that you may need to keep a close check on their grades. Because the instruction is a little more intensive, I have also started the film series on Fridays. We have just completed the fantasy movie, El Laberinto del Fauno, which not only entertained the students in a suspenseful way, but also opened up discussions on the Spanish Civil War, different dialects of the Spanish language, as well as Spanish culture. The next film in our series will be Apocalypto , which will give our students insight on Pre-Colombian Mexico: the Mayans, and the Aztecs.
