Both of Chambers Academy’s first level Spanish classes are moving right along. If you have a student in Spanish class, ask him or her, ¿Qué llevo? This question should be able to be fully answered in Spanish by your child, as they describe what you are wearing. Learning descriptions is very important to beginning Spanish speakers, as so many “high-frequency” words can be learned and used in a relatively simple way. So far, we have successfully learned greetings, commands, the alphabet, physical descriptions, numbers, colors, articles of clothing, family members, classroom objects, and are currently learning body parts through song and dance! We have also mastered the singular uses of the verbs ser , tener , and llevar , as well as the uses of hay. I enjoy hearing the kids talk about their encounters with native Spanish speakers in the community and how they are able to communicate with them in the target language. I also hope that by now you are all aware of what fichas are in my classroom, and understand how important they are to your child’s grade. If you would like, ask your child to interpret the paragraphs below for you, so that you may test their knowledge. Parents, keep up the good work!
