Hello Everyone:
First grade has had a busy month during September. We have completed our first reading unit. We learned a lot about tame and wild animals. We have just wrapped up our habitat project. Thank you, Mrs. Allen for sharing your lesson with us. If you have time, check out our habitats in the hall. Everyone did well on the unit test. We also learned about Johnny Appleseed. Did you know that his real name was John Chapman and he was a missionary? Mrs. Richardson read us a story about him. We watched a video about his life. Did you know he wore a pot on his head and traveled west helping farmers and planting apple seeds? Our top AR reader in September was Beth. She loves to read. Several other students were very close. I love that they are all excited about reading.
We are looking forward to October. In reading and social studies we will be learning about families and communities. Look for a family tree project in about two weeks. Also, we are planning a trip to the pumpkin patch in October. Just a note to say thank you for allowing me to be your child’s teacher. I have a fantastic group of scholars who truly enjoy learning. They keep me on my toes! We have had to Google several questions to find the answers. Like, “Do elephants have hair?” I love their curiosity and willingness to try anything. I am looking forward to a wonderful time of learning for the rest of this year. Thanks for all you do to make sure your student is successful.
