K-4 has been busy learning about money this month. We are learning to identify coins and bills, their worth, and who is honored on each of them. They love singing the money song and can tell you all about Lincoln, Washington, Jefferson, and Roosevelt! Their interest in the Presidents lead us to discuss such things as why we celebrate President’s Day. We looked further into the lives of Lincoln and Washington, we have talked about the duties of a president, we even had an election! Konnor and Sydney are our 2015 K-4 Presidents! Each child was given a writing prompt, If I Were President, and to be quite honest… I would vote for most of them! Sydney would be a Princess President and she would always wear her Wonder Woman costume (she’s got my vote). Laikan and Brandon want every Sunday to be Play Day. Ty wants to implement a Ninja Day. Konnor wants  Superhero Day. Ryanna is going to enforce Craft Day. Last but not least, Jana Cate’s approach is health care. She wants to mandate that EVERY Monday we all go for a walk. These guys never cease to amaze me at what THEY choose to study! I thought we would discuss President’s Day and that they would soon lose interest… but not my crew! They want to know more! I am so incredibly proud of each of them and will not be one bit surprised if one day I am voting for one of these extraordinary candidates!
