Classes are hard at working clearing their vegetable beds for early spring planting.  Bugs invaded kindergarten’s turnip green and mustard patch, so instead of spraying pesticides, we decided to start again with another crop (crop rotation).  My little guys had a blast finding turnips, and then we took a few inside to have a raw turnip tasting.  Kudos to Halle who loved them!  Even I had to admit they weren’t half bad…

Meanwhile, fifth grade accidentally pulled up a few of their purple carrots while cleaning out sections of their plot.  The baby carrots were DELICIOUS!

Third grade cleared out their carrots, and we all discovered that as carrots get older, they split and grow into all kinds of odd shapes.  Sadly, they were not nearly as tasty as the baby carrots, but we’ll try again with a fresh crop.
