Congratulations to our local school science fair competitors and especially to our winners who will now advance to district level competition next week.  The array of original projects and work invested was truly impressive.  Read further for “Miss Kim’s” list of categories and winners.

Congratulations to Coach McGinty, assistant coaches, and the Lady Rebels basketball team.  While the season ended earlier than expected, our CA Ladies had another great year.  The Lady Rebels advanced to the Elite Eight at Huntingdon College before falling to Patrician 49-43.  The Ladies finished the season at 15-8. The season was highlighted by 2 out of 3 victories over long time nemesis Coosa  Valley, 2 out of 3 victories over regional arch foe Cornerstone, and another sweep of of cross county rival Springwood.  Two seniors ended their CA basketball careers with probably more victories than a Lady Rebel has experienced in 20 years.  Aly has been a two year starter and has been a reliable rebounder and outstanding defender.  Britne’ has been a multi-year starter and leaves a legacy of consistent scoring, rebounding, and defending.  What Britne’ mostly leaves is her quiet leadership and ability to remain calm in the storm and thus rally the troops.  Both will be sorely missed.  Returning players who will be asked to step up and fill the void of graduating seniors include:  7th grader, Tori; 8th graders, Jessica and Klancy; 9th graders, Hannah, Anslee, and Baleigh; 10th grader, Cheyenne; and 11th graders, Deven and Heather.

For the second straight year Chambers Academy will have a girls basketball player represent our school in the AISA All-Star basketball game.  Congratulations to Britne’ who has been recognized by regional coaches for her outstanding career at CA.  Britne’ will participate in the AISA All-Star game to be played Friday, February 22th, at 6:00pm in the Crampton Bowl Complex.  Please come out and support Britne’ as she represents our school and community in this state wide stage.

Parents, please don’t forget to send us potential students names and addresses if known.  These identified prospects will be personally invited to an Open House at our school on Thursday, February 28th.  All personnel will be in place to greet and talk to these prospects.  In order to continue current services with even a minimum tuition increase, we need more students.  Please help!!

Our lunchroom payment program has gone away.  The program was begun to be a debit type program with student purchases being deducted from a previously paid amount.  Instead, many have used the program as a credit type program whereby purchases are charged to be paid later.  Our charges have reached into the thousands, and we struggle to pay for lunchroom supplies and food.  All high school students are being advised that effective Tuesday, high school students with more than $10.00 in past charges will not be served.  We simply must “catch-up” so we can begin to use the program as intended.
