Welcome back to the second semester of the 2012-13 school year.  I trust that we all had great food, all the gifts we wanted, and quality time spent with our family.  This is indeed a new beginning.  Grades made (or not made) in the first semester are now history.  I urge all students to take advantage of the fresh start.  Do your work daily, stay up to date, prepare for all exams and generally challenge yourself to perform at your best.

Along that same line, students are urged to be on time every day.  Tardiness is a habit which can be broken.  Poor attendance is another quick road to failure.  We do not expect students to come to school when actually ill.  It is however, our  experience that some older high school students take every opportunity to “not feel good,” and stay out of school.  Be in school!

Basketball is going full speed and headed quickly toward the end of year regional tournaments.  During the Christmas break the girls and boys varisty teams played in the Cornerstone Invitational Tournament.  The boys lost two very close contests against Restoration and Bessemer.  Q.D. Tinsley was named to the All-Tournament Team.  The girls defeated Restoration before dropping a heart breaker to Cornerstone in the finals.  Devin Still was named to the All-Touranment Team.  Come out and support our basketball Rebels.  All four teams are playing hard and playing exciting basketball.  The next home games are Friday, as we host Abbeville, and Tuesday, as Edgewood comes to town.

First semester report cards should be home today.  Parents who did not receive a report card should check with the student before calling the office.
