Life in First Grade
First grade has had a busy month during October. We are working hard to complete our Second reading unit. We are learning a lot about communities. Rowan is our Top AR reader in October. Several other students were very close. We would like to thank the Lafayette Fire department for bringing the ambulance. We learned a lot about fire safety during their visit. We would like to say a special thank you to Mayor Barry Moody for coming to teach us about his job and for bringing the policemen and the police car during our story Who Works Here?; it really brought the story to life for us. The children really enjoyed their trip to the Pumpkin Patch and all the games, jumpers and animals. We had a great time picking out our pumpkins. In November, we will be disguising Tom Turkey to help him make it past Thanksgiving. We will also present a Veterans Day program on November 11th. Soon we will have our fall break and then a week off for Thanksgiving. Shortly after that is Christmas. This year has really flown by. Well that is all the news for now. Thanks for all you do to make sure your student is successful. Please stay safe and enjoy your fall break. They truly are a blessing to teach.
