Life in First Grade
Hello Everyone
This has been a very hectic start to the school year. I promise we are working toward settling in and learning many new things.
Have you noticed all the bubbles our fish are blowing on the First grades bulletin board? Our first graders have started out the year busy reading AR books. We have had a busy month during August. We have completed reading our first reading story and lots of review of our Kindergarten skills. We are learning a lot about tame and wild animals. We are learning about jobs that take care of animals. Everyone has taken his or her Star test. Our top AR reader in August is going to come down to the wire these last few days. I love that they are all excited about reading. Remember our goal is six (6) books each month starting in September.
We are looking forward to September, in reading and social studies we will be learning about families and communities. Look for an all about me project soon. We are excited to have our Grandparents visiting with us in September. We will also learn about Johnny Appleseed. Well that is all the news for now.
Just a note: Thank you for allowing me to be your child's teacher. I love their curiosity and willingness to try anything. I am looking forward to a wonderful time of learning for the rest of this year. Thanks for all you do to make sure your young scholar is successful.
