HIGH SCHOOL ENGLISH
Chambers Academy English classes are being taught by Dr. Valery Jackson. Under her guidance, the students are involved in comprehensive, state-of-the-art, high-interest English instruction that includes such items as a technology-based grammar website, SAT/ACT vocabulary cartoons, graphic novels, comic strips, and much more. Grades 7-9 are writing persuasive essays. Grades 10-12 are writing MLA research papers. The students in grades 9-12 are going to the Alabama Shakespeare Festival to see Romeo and Juliet on March 13 and April 3. Students in grades 11-12 are reading Into Thin Air about climbing Mt. Everest. An inspirational guest speaker, Bud Allen, is scheduled for March 20 to talk with the students about his personal climb of the mountain. Dr. Jackson’s classes will be getting a new classroom IPAD along with Apple TV technology this spring to further enhance Smart Board instruction.
