With the arrival of
the Christmas season, let’s all remember that we have so much to be thankful
for here at Chambers Academy. Most
recently in November, our varsity football team captured CA’s first AISA State
Championship in our school’s history with a perfect season.
Not only have our students excelled in
extracurricular competition, but they have also distinguished themselves as
well in academic endeavors.
CA had school wide
winners selected to represent our school in the AISA’s State Creative Writing
Contest. Baylee was the overall
winner for our elementary division and Claire was our winner for the high
school division. Both students' entries
were submitted for the state level contest. We also had five students advance to
represent CA in the AISA’s District Level Spelling Bee.
Levi finished as the runner-up in the
seventh grade contest and Easton also finished as runner-up in the
fifth grade contest.
Finally, our Middle
School Scholar’s Bowl Team posted an impressive 3-1 record at the district
competition this month with a big 140-130 win over our rival, Springwood.
I am also pleased
to share that
we will be bringing Mrs. Cheryl Blanks on board to be our Academic
Support Coach for our students. Mrs.
Blanks will be working with students referred by their classroom teachers for
improving targeted areas of need. Mrs.
Blanks is a retired teacher from both the Chambers County Schools and a former
CA teacher, having taught first grade here from 2006-11. Additionally, she worked as a reading
coach. We will be setting up a room to allow
her to work with our students on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from 11:30 A.M. to 2:30 P.M. Mrs. Blanks will start
second semester in January.
On a festive note,
CA captured third place with our float entry in the Greater Valley Area Chamber
of Commerce Christmas Parade this month.
Special thanks to all of you who helped make that a great event for
CA.
In regard to
school activities, our varsity boys and girls basketball teams are both
undefeated with the boys at 2-0 and the girls at 3-0 overall. Our Fine Arts theatre team is hosting their
annual Christmas program on Monday, December 10th, beginning at 6
p.m. in the gymnasium. Finally, our
organizational meeting for our new Bass Fishing Team will be Tuesday, December
11th, at 5:15 p.m. in the upper school building.
Exams are coming up with the semester closing on
December 14th. Exams will be
on Tuesday, December 18, thru Thursday, December 20th. Testing will begin daily at 7:53 A.M. until
9:30 A.M. Each day’s second exam will
run from 10 A.M until dismissal at 11:30 A.M.
Periods 1
and 2 will be Tuesday, periods 3 and 4 will be Wednesday, and periods 5 and 6 will
be Thursday.
Elementary classes will have normal schedules Monday thru Wednesday. They will dismiss at 11:30 A.M. on Thursday.
All students will return to classes on Tuesday, January 8, 2019.
On behalf
of the faculty here at Chambers Academy, we wish you a Merry Christmas to you
and your family.
“Go
Rebels!”
Sincerely,
David
