HEADMASTER'S NOTES
Greetings from CA:
It has been a busy October here at Chambers Academy. Our students and faculty are continually making strides to excel both in the classroom and in their extracurricular activities. CA’s success is impacting enrollment also with new student additions from area high schools taking place over the last two weeks. We added another student to both our ninth and eleventh grade classes during this period.
During the month of October, we had two of our freshmen, Jenna and Lauren Fuller, represent CA at the AISA’s District Oratorical contest hosted at Lyman Ward. We also had 53 of our 10-12th grade students take their ACT college entrance exams here for CA’s District Assessment given on October 16th. We hosted a national speaker named Scott Maloney from Massachusetts to culminate our Red Ribbon initiative for safe and drug free schools week. Scott shared a powerful story of how a poor choice left him with life-long consequences of dealing with a brain injury. We have finished the month participating in Alabama’s College Application Week. Each of our seniors have utilized the week to take advantage of application fee waivers to apply to numerous state universities and colleges.
Our athletic teams have continued to represent CA in a positive light with the JV girls volleyball team capturing their first AISA State Championship earlier this month. Our Varsity girls volleyball team has advanced to compete in the AISA’s state Final Four in Montgomery hoping to capture their own state title. Finally, our football team finished the regular season unbeaten earning the right to host the first round of the AISA’s state playoffs.
Looking ahead to November; We will be hosting the BETA Club inductions in the gymnasium on Tuesday, November 6th, at 11:00 A.M. We will also be hosting our annual Veterans Day program on Monday, November 12th, at 9 A.M. with State Senator Gerald Dial serving as our keynote speaker. Academically, our next progress report posting will take place on Wednesday, November 14th, for the 4 ½ weeks mark. Finally, I wanted to share that one of our CA alums, Zac Slay, was recently featured in a promotional video by Auburn University that focused on graduates taking advantage of the AU experience. We will be working to upload the link to our CA website as it is a most impressive video and a great testament to what our CA graduates can accomplish!
