Second Grade News
We have added 2 more members to our Tooth Club this month —William and
Laikan. That gives us 5 members in all so far. The dentist pulled 2 of
William’s teeth. Laikan twisted her tooth all the way around until it
finally came out.
We’ve shared two activities with K-5 to go along with our science lesson
and reading story. The second graders retold the story of “The Very
Hungry Caterpillar” using sequence cards to K-5. Later, they read a
story about two very good friends, Frog and Toad, in “A Lost Button” and
helped K-5 complete sentences about their own button.
We’ve enjoyed an amazing play, “The Snow Queen,” at the Alabama
Shakespeare Festival in Montgomery. The Goblin and Reindeer were my
favorite characters. They were very dramatic! It was a wonderful field
trip!
We celebrated the 100th Day of School on Fri., Jan. 26th, with cake,
ice-cream, balloons, activities, and goody bags. Many thanks to Lowe’s
Pharmacy for blowing up the balloons and Mrs. Dianne Lee for baking our
delicious cake!
We have six second graders who have earned 10 or more AR points in
January — Ty H. William, Abigail, Haley, Eben, and Layken. The February
AR Contest is on! We’ve going to “Put Our Hearts Into Reading!”
