First grade has had a busy month during October. We are working hard to complete our Second reading unit. We are learning a lot about communities. Brandon and Caleb tied for Top AR reader in September. Our top AR reader in October is a close race between them again. Good luck to them both! They both want to read enough books so they can go out to eat together each month. Several other students were very close. We enjoyed our visit with Highway the tortoise. He got his name because he was found on a highway in Florida. We learned that he is about 20 years old and that some tortoises live to be over one hundred. Did you know that a tortoise rarely needs to drink water? They get most of their water from the food they eat. We would like to thank Mr. Noah Hurst and Mr. Moncus for bringing the fire truck and ambulance. We learned a lot about fire safety during their visit. The trip to the Springer was great fun. We enjoyed learning the Wolf’s side of the story but the best part was dressing up like pigs. We are looking forward to our trip to the Pumpkin Patch and Fall Break. In November, we will be disguising Tom Turkey to help him make it past Thanksgiving. We will also present a Veterans Day program on November 10 th . Soon we will have a week off for Thanksgiving, and shortly after that is Christmas. This year has really flown by. Thanks for all you do to make sure your student is successful. They truly are a blessing to teach.
Thank you also for the prayers, supportive words, and acts during my husband’s illness and surgery. He is much better. God bless each of you for your kindness!
