Hello Everyone!
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! First grade has been working hard in January. We have completed our third reading unit (only two more to go). This school year is flying by. We are all reaching our goals for AR quizzes. Our top AR reader in January was Beth. She read over 20 books this month. Several other students were very close. Keep up the good work, First Grade.
We had several girls participating in the Miss Panacea pageant. They were all beautiful. Congratulations to Anna Kate for winning Little Miss Panacea. A special thank you to Mrs. Richardson for planning our trip to the Shakespeare festival. We had a wonderful time watching Cinderella. We also were able to speak to some of the cast members and ask questions about the play. We are looking forward to February; we will be doing a “Tell me something good” project for Valentine’s Day. We will fill in a heart with a nice comment about each student in the class. In March we are planning a field trip to the Springer Opera House to see the Cat in the Hat. Look for permission slips soon. February is just a few days away. That means we will be watching to see if the groundhog sees his shadow. We are all hoping he doesn’t so we can start enjoying the warmer weather of spring.
