Each day the 8th grade class begins with a bell ringer writing activity. Typically I choose the topic, whether it be free writing or a story starter or a video we watch, and the students will write about the chosen topic. This month the students suggested one student each day choose the topic. The students had some great ideas, and it was a very entertaining and productive activity. Their ideas ranged from writing about their favorite holiday or telling their favorite ghost stories (the kids really enjoyed this one as we turned off the lights and each student had to share their ghost story by a candlelight!) IT WAS VERY SPOOKY AND FUN! The 8th graders are a great class and I look forward to the rest of this semester and the other great ideas they can come up with.
