Hello Everyone:
First grade has had a busy month during October. We have completed our Second reading unit. We learned a lot about communities. We learned about communities at school, in our town, communities from the past, and in nature. Did you know that bees have a community in their hives? Ms. Burkman is a bee keeper and she visited the K5-3rd graders to tell us about bees. We learned a lot. We will take our unit test after fall break.
Our top AR reader in October was Beth. She read 20 books this month. She says her goal is to read enough books so she can go out to eat each month. Several other students were very close. We are excited about reading our 6 hours so that we can earn our Six Flags tickets. Don’t forget to time your child as they read at home.
We are looking forward to November.  We want to help Tom Turkey make it past Thanksgiving. We will also present a Veterans Day program on November 11th. Soon we will have a week off for Thanksgiving and shortly after that is Christmas. This year has really flown by. Thanks for all you do to make sure your student is successful. They truly are a blessing to teach.
