I hope everyone had a great summer. I would like to welcome all our new first graders back to school. I have noticed some changes from the kindergarteners I met last year. They are growing up so fast. The other day, I wanted to continue practicing a reading skill, but I was told. ” Mrs. Hyde, we got this. We can do it by ourselves.” I’m so proud they are taking responsibility for their work. We have been very busy since school has started here in first grade. I have to say we are working hard reviewing skills we learned in kindergarten and learning new skills for first grade. We do a lot of blending to figure out words and they are doing great. It’s a big jump from the “kinder” world to first, but the class is doing an excellent job. Several students have reached their AR goal of six books for the month of August and will be receiving their treat. Please encourage your child to read their AR books at home so they can test when they get to school. The goal is 6 books a month.
Thank you for allowing me to teach your scholar’s in first grade. Remember you are your child’s first teacher.
