Civics

So far in Civics this semester we have finished up learning about the three main branches of the federal government.  We have moved into learning about how state and local governments work and what their part in local and politics can be even at their age. I’ve been very pleased at their continued improvement throughout the semester.

Street Law

Street Law has moved along very quickly this semester. We have covered what law really is, how laws are made, crime in America, and the criminal justice process from the investigation to the sentencing process. The students have done a great job of keeping up with the pace of the information and have improved with the depth of information in their answers. They also have recently turned in papers that ranged from the main cause of crime in America to the gun control debate. They did a good job of arguing their point of view and gathering useful information for those arguments. Looking ahead, they will have their first presentations on their papers coming up next week.
