It’s that crazy, hectic, sometimes fun time of the year for high school. In between chapter notes, quizzes, and those last few tests, we find time to round out our learning with field trips and lab time. Anatomy successfully completed the first of a series of dissections, exploring the 3-D anatomy of (sheep) brains. Physical Science is studying light, and with that comes the science of sight. We have already watched a YouTube video of an actual cataract surgery, and we have cow eyeballs to dissect to round out our discussion of eye anatomy. Anatomy has their own set of cow eyes, too, in addition to pig hearts and a set of sheep lungs. Biology has rats, while Life Science has owl pellets, rats, and earthworms. Please pardon the chemical smell in the hallways!

Meanwhile, grades 5-8 attended Auburn University’s Explore Day 2014 at the College of Science & Math. Ask these students about all of the fun things they experienced in this day-long program. Thank you to the faculty and students at the University who do such an outstanding job, and don’t charge us a single dime.
