The 11th grade has been learning all about Native American mythology. The Native Americans have long passed down the stories of their ancestors through oral literature. We have learned all about the methods in which the myths were told, as well as the different types of myths they would tell. We read about the Cherokee creation myth of the brave water beetle. Also, we learned about the Huron’s creation myth about the sky tree. The junior class has enjoyed learning all about these myths and are now looking forward to moving into the next unit on the beginning of a new nation that we now call the United States of America!
