We would like say ” Thank-You” to Mr. Clint Allen (Bailey’s Dad) for arranging our trip to Martin Dam and Hydroelectric Generating Plant.  When it was built in 1926, the dam created the world’s largest artificial body of water (Lake Martin).  We saw the 20 spillway gates which each have the capacity of producing 3,016,000 gallons of water per minute.  Also viewed were the hydraulic turbines, which are powered by a 15 foot diameter water wheel, turned by water at the rate of 2,744,000 gallons per minute.  The power transformers, also on site, can produce up to 115,000 volts of electricity.  Pretty impressive!!!   After our tour (lead by Mr. Billy Bryan of APC), we were treated to a cookout by Mr. Clint, Mr. Billy, and Mr. Ron, also from APC.  Way to go!!!!

We are looking forward to Field Day.  We are dividing into Teams A and B.  Then we will play against each other.  Always fun!!!!

Also our AR Fun Day is coming up!!!
