Our gardens are growing and for the most part, the deer are leaving us alone. Although we would love to have any leftover sections of dog pen type wire you may have around the barn or shop, the pesky critters are taking only an occasional browse.
Speaking of browsing, that’s what we do a good bit of–picking turnips greens, kale, and mustard, plus a radish or two, and nibbling them right there on the spot. We have some curly mustard that would do the best horseradish sauce proud–it lights up our sinuses! After showing off how spicy we can stand it, we head right back over to grab some kale to cool our mouths.
One of the great things about being outdoors–if you don’t like the bite you tried, you can spit it right back out, no questions asked (mainly because our eyes are watering or we’re spitting, too!). If I can get them to eat their green veggies, I’ll leave it up to you to correct their inhouse table manners. LOL!
