“Is class over already?!”
That’s not something we teachers hear often, but it’s sure nice when we do. And some 9th graders were overheard saying just that at the end of one day last week.
The 9th grade has been learning about hardware, software, and even computer code in their computer class, but lately they’ve had an opportunity to dig into the guts of the computer to see what it’s really made of.
They’ve gotten back to the basics by building their own circuits, the building blocks of computers. So far, they’ve built their own breadboards, powered a light, run various motors, and we’ve even been discussing alternative forms of producing electricity.
