Last week 3rd & 4th graders worked on a project relating to buoyancy using soft drinks. The students voted and predicted which ones would float when immersed into water. Some got it right and some got it wrong. We discovered we had a faulty Dr. Pepper because it did not want to cooperate with the activity. We used another Dr. Pepper and the activity was a success. We also tried Sprite, Diet Dr. Pepper and Coke Zero. If you are wondering the outcome— ask a 3rd or 4th grader. We measured the sugar content in a regular soft drink. We were all amazed at the amount of sugar in a can of pop!!! We discussed the outcome when that much sugar is consumed into your body and what happens during the next hour. We has a success with our activity after we figured out the faulty Dr. Pepper can. Guess that’s why they call them Science Experiments—- you never know what will happen. Our upcoming projects will be relating to changes in matter (physical and chemical). Mrs. Harry & Mrs. Burton
