Makinlea, Luke, Halle, Jacob, Keila, Drew, and Cameron are super excited about Christmas and all the presents they are going to get. As the holiday approaches, I keep hearing them say I need this or that…I got an idea and I wanted to show them the difference in what needs and wants are. “You want a basketball, but you need a jacket.” So in order for the students to see the difference in needs and wants, the students went through magazines and cut out items they really want and items they really need in order to live. As a group we sorted the items and pasted them on posters … One of the posters is labeled “wants” and the other is labeled “needs”. After we hung up the posters, we had a discussion about how some people aren’t as fortunate as we are and that we need to think about them when we celebrate these holidays. I want the students to understand that this holiday is about giving and not receiving and that we need to be grateful for all we have and are given. If you have a minute, come down to our hallway and check out our posters. We hope you enjoy what you see!!!!

Merry Christmas~ love, the Kindergarten.
